The Aminé × New Balance 992 "Outdoor School" (U992NE) goes global on Thursday, October 9 through New Balance and select retailers for $220, after Aminé's Club Banana site ran the first wave on October 2 and sold out. WWD and Nice Kicks both clock the Chocolate/Amber colorway and the Outdoor School story; New Balance's own product assets carry the U992NE code.
The Portland rapper built the pair around Oregon's Outdoor School program — the week away from phones where sixth graders learn soil, water, plants, and wildlife. Brown pigskin suede reads like dirt, burgundy patent leather stands in for wood and wet leaves, and the insole prints OUTDOOR SCHOOL with nature icons. Packaging plays tackle-box nostalgia, and each pair comes with a wood-cookie hangtag and charms, the same kind of camp keepsake Aminé says he found again on his childhood bedroom door. Club Banana branding hits the tongue; his signature sits at the heel. It is personal without being precious.
Our take: this is Aminé doing what he does best with New Balance — local memory, not logo cosplay. Outdoor School is a real Oregon institution, and translating that into suede, patent, and a lunchbox-looking carton is funnier and sharper than another beige collab. Club Banana already cleared out, so tomorrow's New Balance window is the main shot for everyone else. If you grew up anywhere near a nature camp, the wood cookie alone might finish the sale.
