Vans OTW took the most famous padded collar in skate history and dressed it for a night out at a very specific kind of saloon. The Era 95 Vibram lands in two colorways that mix embossed snakeskin leather with floral jacquard woven with metallic thread, and both ride on a Vans-custom Vibram vulcanized sole built to grip in any weather.
The black pair, VN00114BBLK, runs red and gold embroidered-look florals across the toe and collar against black snake panels. The off-white pair, VN00114BIGC, goes softer with a washed taupe floral that Sneaker News reads as a desert-camo take. In Japan they're labeled "Floral Black" and "Floral River Taupe." Sneaker News calls the pack "Snakeskin." Either way, it's the same two shoes.
According to Sneaker News, both hit Vans.com and select retailers on October 13 for $120 each. Fullress has the Japan launch the same day at ¥17,600.
The Era started life as Style 95 in the '70s, when skaters asked Vans to pad the Authentic's collar so it would hold up to pools and ramps. Fifty years later it's wearing Western-shirt brocade and a performance outsole, and somehow it works. The black pair is the pick if you want something that looks great with dark denim. The taupe pair is for the person who already owns three pairs of white Eras and needs a reason to buy a fourth.
