SATISFY and Oakley Bring Back the 2001 Scar for Chapter VIII, Out October 14

Close-up of a SATISFY x Oakley Scar temple dusted in sand against a warm orange backdrop, from the official Equipment for Our World Chapter VIII campaign

Update, Tuesday, October 13, 5:35 AM ET: Still on for tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14 via SATISFY and Oakley online (Japan online lottery + Oakley Shibuya / Harajuku / Shinsaibashi raffles). Scar and Suture Jacket still listed around ¥36,800 in Japan; no exact Chapter VIII SKUs at ONENESS yet — shop the Oakley collection.

SATISFY, the French running label that makes trail gear look like it belongs in a gallery, is back with Oakley for Equipment for Our World, Chapter VIII. Oakley Japan announced it today, and Hypebeast Japan reports it goes on sale Wednesday, October 14, on the official SATISFY and Oakley online stores. In Japan, Oakley is selling it through an online lottery, and Hypebeast Japan says select Oakley stores in Shibuya, Harajuku and Shinsaibashi will run raffles too.

This chapter pulls from both ends of Oakley's archive. The old one is the Scar, which first came out in 2001 as Oakley's first frame to mix materials. SATISFY brings it back in two limited colors, Falcon and X-Silver Metal, with an O Matter frame, metal hinges, and Prizm lenses (Tungsten and Black, per Hypebeast Japan). The new one is the Suture Jacket, a high-wrap shield with sharp, spiky lines, in Grey Smoke and Transparent Yellow. It has Unobtainium nose pads that grip harder when you sweat, plus vented Prizm Black lenses made just for this collab. Hypebeast Japan lists both frames at ¥36,800 in Japan, and each one comes with a co-branded eyewear bag and a clear box.

The clothes follow the same idea: holes, on purpose, in all the right places. There's the AuraLite Dune Perforated Long Tee in a Japan-made micro jersey with laser-cut vents (¥35,200), the AmbientWarp Cordura Trail Cap with a vented crown, water-repellent Cordura softshell and an adjustable bungee (¥14,300), and a Falcon SoftCell Bandana with silver foil that reflects the sun (¥12,650). Those are Japan prices from Hypebeast Japan. US pricing hasn't been posted yet.

Our take: this partnership keeps finding the deep cuts. The Scar is a pure Y2K Oakley flex, the kind of frame that used to live in the back of a sports shop case, and SATISFY's sandy, sun-baked campaign makes it look like something dug up on Mars. The Suture Jacket is for people who think a normal pair of shades is too relaxed. Is ¥35,200 a reasonable price for a running tee? No. Will people who own three pairs of SATISFY shorts buy it anyway? Also yes. If you like Oakley with an edge, the Scar is the one to chase.
