Salomon is sending the XT-WHISPER GORE-TEX into winter as a two-color Winter Pack: Grey Violet (L49192300) and Delicioso (L45397800). Japanese retailer BILLY'S ENT has Grey Violet on pre-order now through October 22, with the pair due October 23 at 00:00 JST (October 22, 11:00 AM ET). Fullress clocked the pack at ¥26,400 each, and the GORE-TEX Whisper is the lighter, quicker half of Salomon's fall waterproof push.
Grey Violet is the new news. It's a cool grey-to-lilac build with the Whisper's matte-vs-gloss play and that wavy SensiFit cage, plus a Quicklace system that still feels more trail lab than fashion week. Delicioso (Asphalt/Castlerock) already showed up overseas around September 30 and is on the BILLY'S floor now; the Winter Pack just puts the two GTX colorways on the same shelf. Same Oct 23 Japan window as BILLY'S exclusive Stormy Weather XT-6 PROTECTIVE and Grisaille Whisper we covered yesterday — different SKUs, same rainy-season energy.
Our take: the lab campaign is doing the heavy lifting here, and it should. Magnifying glasses and condensers next to a waterproof trail sneaker is exactly the kind of slightly unhinged product theater Salomon still does better than anyone. Grey Violet is the one we'd actually wear in Louisville drizzle — quiet enough for denim, technical enough that people who know will know. If you already chased the BILLY'S exclusive Grisaille, this is the inline twin with a little more purple in the grey.
