Caitlin Clark's signature line is about to get a lot louder. Official Nike images of the Nike Caitlin 1 "Midnight Fever" (IH7423-600) are out, and House of Heat reports the pair is due October 14 for $140 through Nike.com and big retailers like DICK'S Sporting Goods.
The colorway is listed as Hot Punch and Neo Pink, and that's not an exaggeration. The whole textured upper is covered in hot pink, the tooling fades into lighter pink and purple, and a darker layered Swoosh gives your eyes somewhere to rest. Clark already flashed the pair earlier this year, so the hardcore Fever fans have seen it. This is the first time it's tied to a real date.
The story behind it is the best part. According to Nike, "Midnight Fever" points back to Clark's 22nd WNBA game, the night she became the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double. That's a pretty good reason to make a shoe this bright. Nike frames the theme around her "limitless" range, which is a fancy way of saying she can score, pass and rebound and would like you to know about it.
Our take: the Caitlin 1 launched in calmer colors like "Caitlin Blue" and "Warning Code," and those are fine for wearing every day. "Midnight Fever" is the one that looks like a signature shoe. The court photos sell it too. Pink on hardwood just works. If you only buy one Caitlin 1 this year, this is a strong pick, and it'll be easy to find in a crowded gym.
