Philadelphia has a new superstar, and Nike already made him a welcome mat you can lace up. As Sneaker News reported today, the Nike Air Force 1 '01 "Philly" (style JW9694-100) celebrates LeBron James' arrival in Philadelphia, and it launches today, October 22, at 5:30 PM ET on Nike SNKRS for $140, in men's sizes 3.5 through 15. Philly shop Lapstone & Hammer is carrying it too.
Nike is running the same play it used for the Knicks during their playoff run earlier this year, when the Air Force 1 '01 "NYC" showed up with a pixelated Madison Square Garden printed on the insoles. This time the palette is pure Sixers: white leather overlays over royal blue underlays, a red Swoosh, and 215, the city's area code, on the outer heel. The heel tabs carry "Phila" script, and the insoles swap the arena for a brick wall, which feels about right for a city that takes pride in doing things the hard way.

Our take: city-pride Air Forces live or die on the details, and this one gets them right without turning into a jersey. Royal and red on white is about as classic as a basketball colorway gets, and the brick insole is a quiet little flex you only show off when the shoes come off. It's a same-day SNKRS drop tied to the biggest story in the league right now, so set the alarm for 5:30 and keep your expectations humble.
