JJJJound Takes the Mesh Off the New Balance 990v3 for an All-Suede Made in USA Pair, Out October 22

JJJJound has a new New Balance pair, and this time it skipped the mesh entirely. The Montreal design studio posted a preview of its 990v3 Suede, a Made in USA 990v3 with an upper that's suede from front to back. JJJJound says it's releasing October 22.

The idea is simple. JJJJound says it wanted to see how the 990v3 would feel made entirely in suede, and that "removing the mesh gives the shoe a more elevated character." The upper is one tan-brown suede all over. The outsole, trim and N logos are black, which keeps it from looking like a plain tonal pair. Fullress calls the colorway "Brown/Black" and notes the JJJJound logo on the heel. It's still a full Made in USA 990v3 underneath, built for the same support and cushioning the model has always had.

Our take: JJJJound has basically made quiet a whole genre, and this might be its quietest New Balance yet. No color blocking and no loud logo, just good suede and a black sole doing the work. A 990v3 without mesh looks less like a running shoe and more like something you'd wear with a wool coat, and that's clearly the goal. The one catch: all-suede and rain don't mix, so save these for dry days.

The details: JJJJound x New Balance 990v3 Suede, Made in USA, "Brown/Black." Releases October 22, 2026, per JJJJound. Fullress lists JJJJound and New Balance's Japan online store among the places to watch. Update (Oct 14): Sole Retriever now lists the pair as "Beige/Black" with style code U9904D8, same October 22 date. Price still hasn't been posted.
