Brain Dead and Dr. Martens are back together, and this time they brought the whole zoo. Per Hypebeast, the pair have reworked the Dr. Martens Wayborne Boot in two loud mixed-material versions, and the collection launches Friday, October 23, 2026.
The first pair is the one that looks like it crawled out of a sci-fi swamp. The upper is rub-off Multi Arcadia leather that shifts between black, toxic green and dark teal, and the color is made to wear away the more you beat it up, so no two pairs will look the same a year from now. Black-and-white zebra hair-on panels run down the sides, with mountaineering-style metal eyelets and hooks, patterned laces and the chunky lugged Wayborne sole holding it all down.
The second pair is the more classic Docs move, at least until you look down. It starts with Dr. Martens' signature Cherry Red leather, then adds tan-and-black leopard hair-on panels, black hardware and the same patterned laces. That Cherry Red version is the hard one to get: Hypebeast says it's exclusive to Brain Dead's own channels, the Dr. Martens Showroom in Tokyo and the Dr. Martens store on Brewer Street in London.
Our take: Brain Dead is clearly having an animal-print fall. A few weeks ago it was putting cheetah and snakeskin on the adidas Samba Bowling, and now it's zebra and leopard on a hiking boot. The rub-off leather is the smart part. Most boots look worse the more you wear them, and this one is built to look better. Your roommate may still ask if you skinned a couch.
