Reebok Reveals Darius Acuff Jr.'s Signature Logo Before His NBA Debut

Darius Acuff Jr. has a logo before he has an NBA box score. Reebok debuted the rookie guard's personal signature mark this week, and Reebok.com is now running a "Coming soon from Darius Acuff Jr." banner that points to its basketball page.

The mark is an initials flip: a sharp, blocky "D" with an "A" built into it, per Sole Retriever, which also describes the launch ad. A solid concrete block wearing the Reebok Vector starts to crumble and leaves a cement statue of the new Acuff logo behind. Subtle it is not. It is very basketball.

The backstory is the part that makes this interesting. Sole Retriever reports Acuff signed with Reebok before he ever played a game at Arkansas, had a signature shoe announced before his first Sweet 16, and is now an incoming rookie with the Sacramento Kings. House of Heat notes Reebok Basketball has already confirmed the Acuff 1, and points to Nick DePaula's reporting that it would make Acuff the 11th rookie in NBA history with a signature model launching in his debut season. Allen Iverson has publicly called him "the next HIM."

Our take: Reebok's hoops comeback has been built on signature athletes (Angel Reese's shoe line is the proof it works), and a rookie logo is the first real brick in that wall. No product, price or date is out yet, so treat this as the trailer. But Reebok putting the mark on its homepage before opening night says it plans to move fast. Thirty years after the Question, the brand is betting on a young guard again, and that's a sentence that should make every Reebok head sit up.
