Saint Michael's ninth FW26 drop is the one where the Japanese label brings new friends to the party. Per Fullress, the drop releases Saturday, October 24 in Japan with two first-time collaborators, DreamWorks and San Francisco's Golden Bear Sportswear, plus MADSAKI's second Saint Michael collab of the season. Japanese stockists listed include studious (10:00 AM JST), ROYAL FLASH (12:00 PM JST), UNITED ARROWS and Rakuten Fashion.
The DreamWorks piece is a single cap, and it's peak Saint Michael: the DreamWorks logo on the front, SAINT embroidered on the back, and the label's in-house vintage wash beating it up until it looks like it spent twenty years in a studio parking lot. It's ¥41,800, which is a lot of popcorn.
Golden Bear Sportswear gets the heavyweight slot. The varsity jacket is based on a 1950s Golden Bear jacket from designer Hosokawa's own collection, reworked with Saint Michael's silhouette, cowhide sleeves and the signature patches, with "Sacred Heart" script on the chest. It's ¥308,000, so treat it like the archive piece it's copying.
MADSAKI is back after his 7th-drop debut, and he didn't tone anything down. His spray work and graphics run on top of Saint Michael's aging across a MADSUCKY double-face hoodie (¥122,100), a SCREWDRIVER cap (¥46,200) and a SUCK ON tee (¥47,300). The special visual has a great backstory too: Cali DeWitt visited MADSAKI's atelier, and MADSAKI modeled the pieces himself. Judging by the photos, he had a better time than anyone at your last fitting.
The mainline fills out the drop: Pocket (¥41,800), Life Of A Saint (¥40,700), XXX (¥35,200) and Holy Submission (¥41,800) tees, a flannel check shirt (¥94,600), a rayon check shirt (¥85,800), a zip-up mohair knit (¥104,500) and a mohair cardigan (¥148,500).
Our take: Saint Michael's whole game is making new clothes look like they've already lived a life, so a studio cap and a 1950s varsity are perfect source material. The DreamWorks cap is the conversation piece and the Golden Bear jacket is the grail, but the MADSAKI hoodie is the one we'd actually wear out. Three collabs and a full mainline in one Saturday is a lot, even for a brand that drops this often.
