Cooper Flagg has his own logo now, and in sneaker world that matters, because the logo usually shows up before the shoe. New Balance and the Dallas Mavericks forward revealed his personal signature logo on Thursday at a New Balance event at the NBA China store in Macao. The Mavs are there to play the Houston Rockets twice in the NBA China Games.
The mark is a sharp, blocky "CF," and the left side has pine tree shapes cut into it, a nod to Flagg's home state of Maine. The Mavericks posted the first official photos of Flagg holding the logo up on a blue New Balance hoodie, with the caption "A nod to his Maine roots."
"The logo design represents me. It connects to my name, but also to my roots, which is something that was really important to me," Flagg said. "Where I'm from, there are a lot of trees, so you'll see the pine tree cutouts on the side as a reminder of staying true to who I am and where I grew up. I wanted to include hints of Maine while keeping the design clean and something that feels like me."
New Balance hasn't announced a signature shoe or any products with the logo yet, so there are no dates or prices. As Sneaker News points out, though, this is the logo that will go on everything with his name on it from here on out. Flagg went No. 1 in the 2025 NBA Draft and is about to start his second season in Dallas.
Our take: the pine trees are a great call. It's very Maine and very clean, and it already looks good on a hoodie, which is half the battle for an athlete logo. Some players wait years for their own mark, and Flagg has one before his second season even tips off. A signature shoe feels like a question of when, not if. Until then, we'd happily take the hoodie in that photo.
