G-SHOCK is going back to where it all started, but with hands this time. Casio today introduced the G-SHOCK 2500 Series, a new analog family that borrows the octagonal-round bezel from the DW-5000C, the 1983 watch that started the whole line. As House of Heat reported, it arrives in November at select retailers, gshock.casio.com and the G-SHOCK Soho store in New York.
There are three versions. The full-metal GMC-2500D is the dressy one at $350. The metal-accented hybrid GMC-2500 runs $280 to $300. The GAC-2500 is the fun one, in bright yellow resin with bio-based resin parts, for $145. All of them get softer, rounder edges, 200M water resistance, LED light, an auto calendar through 2099, and a power-saving mode that stops the second hand to stretch battery life up to five years. There's also a new "Multi-Mission Date" display that switches between the date, mode, stopwatch minutes and settings.

Our take: the 2500 looks like a DW-5000C that got invited to a wedding. The steel GMC-2500D with the blue dial is the head-turner, but the yellow GAC-2500 at $145 is the one we'd wear every day. It's cheap enough to beat up, and it's loud enough that nobody will mistake it for a phone notification. Fans who still swear by digital won't be thrilled, but the shape is what made this watch famous, and that's all still there.
At ONENESS: the 2500 Series lands in November. Until then, grab the Casio G-SHOCK GM5600SCM-1 Digital Watch in White, the Casio G-Shock x BlackEyePatch DW-5600 in Gold / Black, or browse the full Casio collection.
