AVIREX and Reebok Team Up for the First Time With a Club C and Training Suits, Out October 10

Two people in olive and plaid AVIREX x Reebok training pants wearing olive suede AVIREX x Reebok Club C sneakers on a green studio floor

The flight jacket people and the tennis shoe people finally met. AVIREX and Reebok have made their first collaboration: a collection built around the Club C, plus apparel that mixes both brands' DNA. It releases Saturday, October 10, at AVIREX's own stores across Japan and on its official online store, mix.tokyo. TSI, the company behind AVIREX in Japan, announced it in a press release, and AVIREX posted the full lookbook on its official site.

AVIREX is calling it the Modern Sage collection, and the lookbook is basically one long argument for olive green. The Club C comes in olive suede and shows up two ways in the photos, once with black laces and once with cream laces over a clear, icy sole. Around it you get a training jacket and matching training pants, a detachable jersey pullover and a watch cap, in olive, navy plaid, black and a leafy camo. Little orange AVIREX x Reebok labels sit on the beanies, which is the kind of detail that makes a hat cost more than it should and still sell out. AVIREX hasn't posted prices yet.

On paper this is a strange pairing. AVIREX was born in 1975 making flight jackets for the U.S. Air Force, and it helped costume Top Gun. The Club C was born on a tennis court. In practice it makes total sense. Flight-jacket olive on a suede Club C is about as easy to wear as a sneaker gets. The whole thing looks like the uniform of a flight school that also has a very good tennis team. The plaid training suit is the sleeper here. It's the piece that will look best a year from now, when everybody has moved on from whatever the next track suit is.

For now it's a Japan release only, and neither brand has said anything about a US launch.
