Converse x Vaquera VX-1 Heel Puts a Kitten Heel on a Y2K Skate Shoe October 27

Yes, that's a kitten heel on a skate shoe. Converse and Vaquera are back with the VX-1 Heel, a women's low-top that takes the puffy Y2K skate-shoe look of the archival CS Pro-1 and sets it down on a small heel. It lands Tuesday, October 27, in Europe and the US.

The shoe first showed up on Vaquera's Fall/Winter 2026 runway in Paris back in March, and now it has a price tag. Converse describes a suede upper with perforated details, a puffed mesh tongue and padded collar, wide laces, retro eyerow covers, a heel pull with translucent detailing and a co-branded molded rubber tongue label, all finished on a Super Grip gum rubber forefoot outsole. Two pairs are lined up: a black suede pair with the white Star Chevron (A19134C-001) and a pale suede-and-white pair (A19133C-100). Converse Spain lists it at €220 with a 9:00 AM CET drop on October 27, and Kim Petras fronts the campaign. In the US, SNKRS has both pairs on its upcoming calendar for October 27 at $250.

Our take: last year Vaquera turned the Chuck into a thigh-high slouch wedge, so a kitten heel is basically them showing restraint. It's a skate shoe for people who have no plans to skate, and honestly the black pair with the gum bottom works as a statement piece. Whether you wear it to a show or just to make your group chat uncomfortable is up to you.

At ONENESS: the VX-1 isn't on our shelves, but Converse is. Check the Chuck Taylor All Star First String Hi in Black Leather, the First String Hi in Optical White Croc, the First String Hi in Silver / Black Snake, or browse the full Converse collection.
