ROSÉ is taking the Speedcat into fall. PUMA's new PUMA x ROSÉ Speedcat VTG comes in two colors, a deep Burgundy and a new earthy Espresso brown, and both release Thursday, October 8 through PUMA and select retailers. PUMA Japan announced the pair in an official release on October 6. Sole Retriever has U.S. retail at $120 and counts this as ROSÉ's third PUMA collection.
The "VTG" stands for vintage, and PUMA leans into it. The upper is nubuck leather with a cracked finish that makes a brand-new shoe look like it spent a decade in someone's closet in the best way. The signature move is the lacing: extra-long laces wrap around the shoe through loops on the side panels and heel, so you can tie it like a ballet flat. Sole Retriever calls it the "dancer flair" that runs through all of her Speedcats, and it carries the whole pair. There's an embossed PUMA x ROSÉ logo on the tongue, a debossed PUMA No. 1 logo on the side, and it all comes in a custom box with a canvas dust bag and a lacing guide, which you'll need, because those laces aren't kidding.
The Burgundy is the obvious showstopper. But the Espresso is the one we'd grab. Brown suede-looking sneakers are carrying fall this year, and a slim, low Speedcat in coffee brown goes with everything from wide trousers to a slip skirt. Both colors look like they belong at a flea market in Paris, in a good way.
